Your Profile
You have or will shortly receive a master’s degree in any of the materials sciences (e.g. computational materials science/physics/
chemistry, applied mathematics). The project requires knowledge of
- programming (e.g., Python),
- atomistic simulations (e.g., DFT, Molecular Dynamics),
and enthusiasm for developing new methods and AI techniques to accelerate the design of innovative and sustainable materials.
The aim of the project is to develop combined computational/experimental workflows for an AIsupported design of high-performance aluminum alloys. The activities target increased sustainability of these alloys while still upholding
excellent mechanical properties or high electrical conductivity. You will apply accelerated materials design loops, informed by ab initio modelling and machine-learning interatomic potentials, to
identify promising new alloys and processing parameters. This is a joint project with national and international research and company partners. The research will take part in a collaborative scientific network and include research stays abroad.
