Your Profile

You are a Master student in any of the computational sciences (computational materials science/physics/chemistry). The project requires knowledge in

  • modeling techniques used in Machine- Learning (e.g., symbolic regression, neural nets, Bayesian methods),
  • atomistic simulation, 

and you are enthusiastic to develop and apply these methods to accelerate the design of innovative materials.

Tasks & Responsibilities

Continuum models can describe the material’s microstructure on realistic length scales. However, continuum models are not closed and need to be complemented with information from lower scales, such as atomistic models.

In this project you will develop continuum models on the basis of atomistic data in order to predict the evolution of microstructures. This will involve

  • Running the atomistic simulations,
  • Develop the constitutive model based on the data coming from the atomistic simulations,
  • Compare the results with direct simulations and available experimental data,

as well as writing of a peer-reviewed journal article on the obtained results.
